*This location does require a Permit processed through the State of Florida Parks Department based on the size of the Wedding. Once upon a time, this was an excellent location for beach weddings however, in recent years (2016+) much of Honeymoon Island has been washed away leaving a very Rocky Beach. Therefore, we recommend moving North to Fred Howard Park or South to Clearwater Beach.

Its all in the name! Honeymoon Island is an ideal wedding location in the Dunedin/Palm Harbor area of Northern Pinellas County. This State Park is located at the Northernmost point of Pinellas County, at the end of Causeway Blvd. Honeymoon Island, formerly known as ‘Hog Island’ is a barrier island directly across from St. Joseph’s Sound. Boasting 365 acres and over 4 miles of waterfront beach, this is the most-visited State park in Florida. Located on-site is the Rotary Centennial Nature Center, which features exhibits of fossilized coral and elevated observation deck for bird watching. There are several nature trails, gift shop, and snack bar for guests.

Honeymoon Island is a rather remote beach location, boasting over 7 miles of waterfront property and a 2,200 foot barrier-free nature trail. A State-run park that consists of one cafe, large multi-access parking lots, and no commercial buildings whatsoever, this is an ideal location for your Special Day! In 2005, TripAdvisor named Honeymoon Island the nation’s #4 Beach, #2 in 2006 & 2007, and the Nations #1 Beach Ranking in 2008! There are also many regional triathlons and races held each year at this beautiful location.

Situated conveniently 20-25 minutes away from Downtown & Clearwater Beach, it is the ultimate getaway for any size romantic beach ceremony to large formal gatherings. Honeymoon Island is the ultimate playground for kayaking, canoeing, running, fishing, cycling, and manatees.

There is one preferred wedding site at Honeymoon Island:

North Beach/Rock Jetty Area – The most remote and beautiful location in Northern Pinellas County (it is a smaller location due to beach erosion)

There is currently a $250 permit fee and $8/car entry fee required at this wedding location. Healthy ecosystems and remote beach locations are at the core of Florida Gulf Beach Weddings and Honeymoon Island. Nearby locations include: Clearwater Beach (11 miles South, 23 minutes by car).

Airport: Tampa International Airport (Airport Code TPA) ranks high in convenience and ease of travel and is located just 22 miles from Honeymoon Island State Park. You can also fly into St Petersburg / Clearwater Airport, only 17 miles from Honeymoon Island State Park.
