I truly believe we were meant to meet, meant to fall in love and meant to be together.  I have told Scott that since the beginning.  I always tell him he was in my stars.  We were coworkers and great friends before we dated and it’s that bond that has grown into this amazing love story.  Of course, that was after we first met and strongly disliked one another…

I must tell this part because we laugh about it all the time now.  I was gone for military training.  I temporarily moved to Mississippi for three months.  He started working at the Communications flight during the same timeframe.  He emailed me work tasking’s for equipment and from his perspective I was ignoring him.  Once I got back from school I deleted the hundreds of emails in my inbox, including his.  My temporary replacement should have handled anything important.  If they didn’t, the sender would surely contact me with a follow up email. 

Once I started calling the help desk he would be short with me on the phone.  So naturally I disliked him right back.  I got hired to work at the same help desk six months later, and wouldn’t you know my desk was right next to his!  He also had to move his desk down one so I could sit at the end of our row (as if he needed another reason to despise me). 

Months later, it was hard to ignore how much we had in common and the unspoken connection that formed.  We would constantly say the same thing at the same time or one of us would share a thought and the other would feel as if our mind was being read.  We would laugh like idiots at things our coworkers didn’t even find funny.  I couldn’t help but smile when I would see him.  Work was so much more fun when he was there.

It took him awhile to convince me to go on a date.  I knew he was someone I saw in my life forever.  I didn’t want to ruin our bond over a crush.  Eventually I realized I could love this man and perhaps I already did.  I made sure he knew that if this date was going to happen, and if the spark was there, life as we knew it would change.

Life as we know it did change.  We were lucky enough to be best friends who fell in love.  I can honestly say we are fortunate enough to laugh like idiots every single day.  For all that brings us together we have our differences.  I will never be on time.  He will never stop wanting to be early.  I speed in parking lots.  He uses his blinker to turn into a parking row.  I’ve woken up and decided to move across the country that very day.  He prefers an itinerary or well-planned event.  Somehow our differences balance each other out.  We just work and now that we are together I can’t picture life any other way.

He smuggled the ring box in his sock to our 1 year anniversary dinner.  He snuck it out when I went to bathroom.  I came back to the ring box, a candle in our dessert and him resting his chin in his hand and giving me his best dimpled smirk.  I’m the super emotional one and immediately started bawling once my brain could process what was happening.  Eventually he got a, “YES!” out of me through the happy tears.

He engraved my engagement ring with “You are my stars.”  As if I needed another reason to be emotional.  So here we are, as in love as ever and ready to make the commitment to share a lifetime together.  I can’t wait to marry this man!!!!!!!
