How it all began

I met this beautiful young lady out of a suggestion from my sister on October 18, 2014. My sister said, “check her out on Facebook” and “this is her number to text or call her.” I lived in Cumming, she lived in Dahlonega. So, for our first date, we met half-way in Dawsonville at steakhouse for dinner. We talked over dinner, and things seemed to move along nicely. I then asked her if she would like to go sit in the car and chat for a few minutes more, and we probably sat for another couple of hours. We seemed to not run out of things to say.
Over the next couple of weeks, we chatted via text and some over the phone. So the next actual date, I asked her to come down to my place in Cumming, and I was sick, but didn’t want to cancel the date, nor let her know how awful I felt. So, we ended up grabbing a quick meal at chili’s and back to my place where we talked non-stop until almost 2AM, before she made the trek back to Dahlonega. From there, the rest was history. I was hooked, and she seemed to be too. We watched a show at the Fox Theatre a few weeks later from her favorite movie (Dirty Dancing), and, then it was the holidays. That night, I had only known her about 6 weeks, but was falling in love with her that soon, and told her that I loved her. We spent Thanksgiving together, went shopping on Black Friday, and then came my birthday. So, talking about catching me off guard…she totally surprised me for my birthday. She managed to find one of my best friends on Facebook, one of my neighbors, and my sister, and did a surprise dinner at Longhorns. I was so shocked!! I mean, she had only known me a few months and to do something so thoughtful, was just awesome to put it mildly. Let’s just say she had my full attention. Then came Christmas, and right after we took a road trip to Asheville, NC to see the Biltmore house and we had a blast. It was the first of many to follow road trips and it was a very fun and successful adventure. I thought to myself at the time, WOW! This girl is the real deal, she’s amazing!!! Then came her birthday, valentines, and things continued to get better and better. One of my favorite gifts I ever received from her was a deck of cards, but let me tell you, this was not any deck of cards… She took the time and wrote on every single card something she liked about me. I opened it was was a little unsure of the gift until I started reading it and was literally blown away with her sincerity and actual love for me. Well, little did I know, that was just the beginning. I was falling more and more in love with her as the days went on, and it seemed to be mutual. We decided to introduce the kids in the spring of last year and that went over very well, and has continued to be a win for all of the kids.
Fast forward to February 2016, the weekend before Valentines Day, and I decided to propose to her. I decided since we did have the kiddos on Valentines, that I would give her the gift for valentines day a week early, and put THE RING, in the bottom of the box where she may not find it until I was ready. So, I took her to a nice restaurant in Cumming, and everyone there was in on it and let her out at the door, and came in after with a box in my hand. I told her it was her valentines gift…and it was. So just before dinner, she was dying to open what she thought was just her valentines present, so I said, OK. There were a few things in the box, and she completely missed the ring at the bottom of the box, which was exactly what I wanted to happen. So, we had a wonderful meal, both in fantastic moods, and I told her that there were 4 items in the box and you only opened 3 of them. So, she revisited the box and saw a small jewelry box under a sweater I had gotten her. Still, she had no idea that there was a ring in the box. She told me she assumed it was earrings, but nope, it was not. So when she got the box in her hand, I had moved to the floor on one knee, and popped the question. She had the biggest smile and shock on her face!! She immediately said yes, so I got up and gave her a kiss!! She loved the ring and the love of my life told me “YES!” Life can’t get better than this!
