The Sunshine State has about 1,800 miles of coastline and 1,100 miles of beach – more than any state in the union. Twenty-four miles of this sandy shoreline – some would say the best of the best – are right here at the Heart of Florida’s Emerald Coast. The sand here has been described as “shockingly fine” and so clean that it squeaks underfoot. The brilliant emerald-green water of the Gulf of Mexico provides such a contrast with the blue sky above and the white sand below, it’s no wonder artists have been painting this stretch of paradise since it was discovered by the Spanish centuries ago. But perhaps one of the most amazing things about our beaches is that the very best belong to you, the beach-loving public.
The Okaloosa County beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world with its sugar white crystalline sands drawing tourists from far and wide.
Come play on the powdery white sand beaches of Okaloosa Island! Emerald Coast beaches rank among the best in the world, and on Okaloosa Island, the beaches range from gulf front gorgeous to bay side beautiful!
Many visitors young and old come to Fort Pickens to enjoy its scenic location on the beach. The white sands of Santa Rosa Island are the perfect place for a long walk or an afternoon of building sandcastles. The warm ocean waters are great for swimming and snorkeling.
Fishermen will find a pier just a short distance from the picnic pavilions. It can be used by visitors without a Florida fishing license. Many hiking trails through the sand dunes provide beautiful views and hours of exploration.
Historic Fort Pickens, a pentagonal fort built to defend Pensacola Bay in 1834, is just 1 mile from the campground. The structure was fortified after the War of 1812 and was one of four forts in the South never occupied by Confederates during the Civil War.
Surrounded by Santa Rosa Sound, Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico are breathtaking for visitors of Okaloosa Island. This barrier island between Ft. Walton Beach and Destin is famous for pristine beaches, water sports and awesome family attractions.
Say “I Do” with your bare feet in the sand! Okaloosa Island is a magical place to marry, and with world-class event planners, photographers, caterers and more, you’ll be glad you had your destination wedding at one of the nation’s top beach destinations!
Beasley Park is a wonderful public beach park located on Okaloosa Island between Destin and Fort Walton, FL. It offers a more casual beach visit suited for families or couples looking to relax and enjoy the surf and sand. It has a tremendous amount of scenic beauty, which makes it a favorite location for a beach wedding. You can see them happen throughout the year, but most frequently during the early summer and fall months! I also think this beach location provides the backdrop for more “beach portraits” than any other area beach.
